SpaceX and Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk is trying to disrupt the transportation industry again. Musk unveiled the alpha plans for his Hyperloop high-speed transportation system Monday, showcasing what could one day become the fifth form of major transportation.
According to the designs Musk released to the public, the Hyperloop system will be able to transport people in aluminum cars and pods at speeds up to 800 mph. The design, which Musk estimates would cost roughly $6 billion to build, could potentially transport individuals from San Francisco to Los Angeles in just 30 minutes.
